What is the Kickstart Scheme?

  • A £2 billion investment to tackle youth unemployment
  • Funding to create job placements for 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit
  • Job placements are for 6 months and 25 hours a week
  • Employers receive 100% of National Minimum Wage and employer NICs
  • Additional £1,500 grant per job placement for setup costs and training

Eligibility Criteria

• Job placements must be new jobs
• They cannot replace existing/planned vacancies
• They cannot result in staff/contractors losing work or hours
• Each job placement must help the young person become more employable
• Your organisation must be registered with Companies House, the Charity Commission or be a public sector employer
